Mari Wilson coming to Pacific Road in Birkenhead

MARI Wilson first arrived on the scene in the early 80s with her trademark beehive hairdo and fully choreographed 12-piece band The Wilsations.

Mari’s live shows were always an event as you can see for yourself when she comes to the Pacific Road Arts Centre in Birkenhead on Tuesday, October 14 at 7.30pm.

Mari first entered the charts in 1982 with Just What I’ve Always Wanted and Cry Me A River, both taken from her album Showpeople.

Since then Mari has continued to build her reputation as a great live performer, branching out into jazz and musical theatre, and performing alongside legends such as Ray Charles and BB King.

Mari has also sung on numerous TV themes, most notably the highly successful Coupling theme Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps. There is also the continuing collaboration with Barb Jungr and Claire Martin in the outrageously camp show – Girl Talk.

Mari finally re-entered the studio in 2005 to record her latest album Dolled Up, followed by a compilation of her previous work, both of which have inspired her new one-woman show The Love Thing which is hitting the road this year.
